Athena-Weston School District staff, students, and families have demonstrated amazing resiliency this past 18 months. The year brought unprecedented challenges and we are proud of the way our staff came together to provide the strongest options for education possible given the various restrictions. As we prepare to safely return students to school, we have recently been granted greater flexibility and local control in creating our new operational safety plans.
School districts have been given local control specifically on the mask conversation and to ensure we respond to our community's needs, we'd like your feedback. Please share your comfort level with optional student masks via our district survey. We will collect responses through July 6th at 5:00 pm.
Please note that the other safety precautions such as air filtering, hand washing, social distancing, etc. remain in place. It is also crucial to remember that Umatilla County Health is an important partner in our schools and they have the decision making authority on quarantines.
