cte month spotlight

Weston-McEwen High School is celebrating Career Technical Education Month by highlighting some recent student projects.

Students are learning propagation methods in Plant Science. They are growing bedding plants and will have a plant sale in the spring to showcase their efforts.

Horticulture and Plant Science students have been growing a variety of vegetables in hydroponic systems. Students have been harvesting the food and feeding AWSD’s K-12 students with the produce.

“It is very special for students to see the food they have grown in the salad bars at each school in the district. Students say their homegrown produce is tastier than bought produce!” said Ashley Tompkins, Agriculture Science Teacher at WMHS.

Today's CTE programs prepare students for a wide range of high-wage, high-skill, high-demand careers.
